Get A Grip Resurfacing (Southeast Michigan) Introduce
For homeowners in Southeast Michigan, keeping our homes updated and looking their best is a continuous effort. Whether you live in a historic home in Detroit, a suburban ranch in Livonia, or a cozy cottage near a lake, the need to refresh kitchens and bathrooms is universal. A full-scale remodel can be an expensive and time-consuming undertaking, which is why many locals are turning to a more efficient and cost-effective solution: refinishing and resurfacing. This is the specialty of a general contractor like Get A Grip Resurfacing, which serves the entire Southeast Michigan area. This article is crafted to provide a comprehensive, friendly, and factual overview of this company, giving you the information you need to decide if their services are the right fit for your home improvement goals. We will explore their location, the specific services they offer, and key highlights that make them a popular choice for homeowners in our community.
Resurfacing, also known as reglazing or refinishing, is a process that involves applying a new, durable finish to an existing surface, such as a bathtub, tile, or countertop. This technique allows for a dramatic transformation without the waste, mess, and high cost of replacing a fixture or surface that is still structurally sound. For Michigan residents, this is an excellent option for updating outdated spaces. It's a way to tackle a project without the need for extensive demolition, which is particularly appealing for those who want to avoid the mess and inconvenience that comes with a full remodel. Get A Grip Resurfacing has been a part of the resurfacing industry since 1999, according to public information, positioning them as an experienced and established business in the region. Their focus on this specific service means they are experts in their field, offering a specialized alternative to a more generalized home renovation company. This specialization is a key advantage for locals who know exactly what they want to update and are looking for a quick, high-quality solution.
Get A Grip Resurfacing is located at 37675 Schoolcraft Rd, Livonia, MI 48150, USA. This address places the business in a strategic and easily accessible location for homeowners across Southeast Michigan. Situated on Schoolcraft Road, a major road, it is close to the I-275 and I-96 interchange, making it convenient for those traveling from Detroit, Ann Arbor, and other surrounding communities. The central location in Livonia allows the company to efficiently serve a wide geographic area, covering Wayne, Oakland, and Livingston counties, among others. For a local contractor, this accessibility is a significant benefit, as it means faster response times and a better understanding of the diverse architectural styles and housing stock found throughout the region. Whether you need a quote or have a question, having a physical location that is easy to get to is a huge plus for any Michigan resident considering a home improvement project.
As a specialist in resurfacing, Get A Grip offers a range of targeted services designed to refresh and restore various surfaces in your home. Their expertise is centered on the areas that often become outdated first: kitchens and bathrooms. The company's publicly available services include:
- Bathtub Resurfacing: This is a popular service for restoring old, worn, or discolored bathtubs. Instead of replacing the tub, they apply a new finish that makes it look brand new, often with the option to add a non-slip surface for safety. This is a great solution for those with an old cast iron or fiberglass tub that is still in good condition but needs a cosmetic update.
- Tile Resurfacing: For bathrooms and kitchens with outdated or chipped tile, resurfacing offers a way to change the color and appearance without the mess of retiling. They can transform a room by making an old, dated color a beautiful, soft white, as noted by one customer.
- Countertop Resurfacing: Get A Grip can give new life to old kitchen or bathroom countertops. This service is an affordable way to update a kitchen's aesthetic, with options to create a variety of finishes and colors.
- Cabinet Resurfacing: For a complete kitchen or bathroom refresh, they also offer cabinet resurfacing. Instead of replacing expensive cabinetry, they can repaint or re-stain the existing cabinets to create a new, modern look.
This focused list of services demonstrates the company's commitment to its niche. By specializing in these areas, they can provide a more efficient and professional service than a generalist contractor, which is a major advantage for Michigan homeowners with specific renovation needs.
When choosing a contractor, a company's reputation and customer experiences are crucial. Based on public data and testimonials from real customers, Get A Grip Resurfacing has several key features and highlights that make them an appealing choice for local homeowners:
- Cost-Effective and High-Quality Results: Numerous customers have praised the company for providing results that look like a full remodel "without the huge remodel price tag." This is a significant highlight for budget-conscious homeowners in Michigan who still want a beautiful, updated space.

Customers have noted that the work is performed with great care, from the preparation to the final finish, ensuring there is "absolutely no overspray on anything." This attention to detail is a key feature that builds trust and confidence.
- Rapid and Efficient Service: The company promotes "same-day service" for many jobs, and customer experiences confirm their efficiency. The ability to complete a project quickly minimizes disruption to a household, which is a major plus for busy families.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I am very happy with the bathroom remodel Get A Grip helped with. We had the outdated 1950's brown tile all around the bathroom wall and now its a beautiful soft white. Also had the tub and sink re-glazed, the vanity repainted and got the non-slip surface in the bottom of the tub, which matches the tub exactly. The bathroom looks like new without the huge remodel price tag. Here's some before and after photos.
March 30 · Lisa FrederickMy husband and I moved into a 1962 home in Denver knowing it needed a lot of TLC that we likely would not be able to afford immediately. My dad (Mark) suggested we consider painting some surfaces as a way to make the house feel more aesthetically pleasing while we save for our major home renovations. With the help of the Lakewood Get A Grip, my dad was able to update our bathroom and parts of our kitchen during a visit from Michigan. I could not get over the MASSIVE improvement simply painting these spaces made. Every thing feels 100% brighter, which is really helpful when you lack natural lighting. I am so grateful to have these spaces updated.
May 12 · Katherine Rush (Katie)They did a miracle with resurfacing my tub. Very beautiful work and the customer service was top tier. Definitely would recommend for anybody who wanting to resurface their tub to contact them now.
January 28 · Lastarr CottonMark and Max are very friendly and work extremely professionally. The process of getting my sink refinished was smooth and the result speaks for itself! I will recommend these guys to anyone that has a resurfacing project to tackle!
September 21 · Cake SI had another company come on July 7th to refinish our bathtub and was very dissatisfied with the results. We were referred to "Get a Grip" by the "Inside/Outside Guys" on WJR AM Radio. I called Get a Grip on a Tuesday and Mark called me early the next morning. He was pleasant, very knowledgeable, and sympathetic to my situation. He scheduled an appointment for our bathtub the same week on Friday July 14th. Max came out on time and did a wonderful job. Not to mention he is very professional and explained the steps he would take to make our bathtub look new again and updated me on the progress. Highly recommend "Get A Grip" and will definitely call them again if we refinish the tile and floor in our bathroom.
