Porcelain Patch & Glaze Co Introduce
For many Connecticut homeowners, an aging bathroom can present a dilemma: endure the dated look or commit to a costly, weeks-long gut renovation. Porcelain Patch & Glaze Co, located in Meriden, CT, offers a professional and highly specialized solution that stands as an economical and efficient alternative to full replacement. While the company is categorized as a Bathroom remodeler and can be viewed as a specialized General Contractor for the wet areas of a home, its primary expertise lies in the art and science of surface refinishing and reglazing.
Reglazing, or resurfacing, is the process of restoring worn, damaged, or aesthetically outdated porcelain, fiberglass, or ceramic fixtures—such as bathtubs, sinks, and tiles—to a pristine, like-new condition. For homeowners across the state, this process can deliver the appearance of a remodel for a fraction of the cost, often saving up to 80% compared to a full tub replacement, and with significantly less disruption. The team is dedicated to providing quality restoration, ensuring that dated colors, surface damage, and dull finishes are resolved efficiently. This approach allows Connecticut residents to update their bathrooms quickly, sometimes in a matter of hours, and avoid the noise, dust, and extensive labor costs associated with demolition and reconstruction.
A key element of their commitment is the pride taken in delivering a high-quality, durable finish. While no home improvement process is immune to potential issues, Porcelain Patch & Glaze Co emphasizes that customer satisfaction and proper product care are paramount. When working with specialized contractors, following the provided instructions for maintenance is crucial to ensure the refinished surface reaches its maximum lifespan, which can typically extend for 10 to 15 years. This focus on long-term results and excellent customer communication is what defines their service in the Connecticut home improvement landscape.
Porcelain Patch & Glaze Co is centrally located within the state, operating from its base in Meriden, which allows it to efficiently serve communities throughout Connecticut.
- Address: The company's headquarters is situated at 175 Hamilton St, Meriden, CT 06451, USA. This location makes it accessible for consultations and provides a strategic hub for dispatching crews for on-site projects across a wide service area.
- Accessibility: Given the nature of their primary service—on-site refinishing and reglazing—the company’s specialists travel to the customer's home. This mobile service means that the quality, cost-saving benefits of bathtub and tile restoration are available directly to homeowners, property managers, and commercial clients throughout the Connecticut region without requiring a visit to a showroom.
The services offered by Porcelain Patch & Glaze Co are a focused approach to bathroom remodeling, concentrating on surface restoration rather than replacement. This specialization ensures expert-level work in the most effective and efficient manner possible for residential and commercial property owners.
- Bathtub and Wet Area Reglazing:
- Bathtub Refinishing and Reglazing: Revitalizing tubs made of porcelain, cast iron, fiberglass, and acrylic. This process resolves issues like chips, stains, cracks, rust, and dull or out-of-date colors.
- Tile Refinishing: Restoring the appearance of wall and shower tiles, eliminating stained grout lines, and updating tile colors without the cost and mess of demolition.
- Shower Resurfacing: Renewing the surfaces of fiberglass or acrylic shower stalls to a sleek, like-new condition.
- Sink and Countertop Restoration:
- Sink Refinishing: Applying a new, durable finish to worn-out bathroom and kitchen sinks.
- Countertop Resurfacing: Extending the life and enhancing the look of various countertop surfaces.
- Surface Repair and Restoration:
- Patching and Repair: Fixing minor surface imperfections like chips and cracks before the final glazing application.
- Protective Application: The reglazing process utilizes a high-performance system to encapsulate the old surface, which is a crucial benefit for older porcelain units that may contain lead-based materials, making the resulting surface lead-free and non-toxic.
- Commercial and Versatile Refinishing (General Contractor Scope):
- The broader capabilities of the contractor extend to commercial needs, providing cost-effective updates for rental properties, hotels, and institutional facilities.
As a highly specialized contractor, Porcelain Patch & Glaze Co’s features center on value, speed, and quality results, making them an attractive choice for practical Connecticut home renovations.
- Significant Cost Savings: The primary benefit is affordability. Refinishing the existing tub and tile can save homeowners and property managers up to 80% of the expense associated with purchasing a new tub, hiring plumbers, demolishing existing tile, and paying for multiple trades.
- Minimal Disruption and Fast Turnaround: Most reglazing projects are completed in a single day, or within a matter of hours. This rapid service ensures the bathroom is typically ready for use within 24 to 48 hours, significantly reducing the downtime compared to a traditional renovation that can take a week or more.
- Retention of Original Fixture Quality: For classic Connecticut homes, this service allows residents to keep valuable, often high-quality, cast iron or vintage porcelain fixtures. A newly reglazed surface retains the original solid structure and feel of the fixture, unlike a thin acrylic liner.
- Durable, New Surface Finish: The process results in a high-gloss, sleek, and durable finish that is resistant to stains and easy to clean. Customers often report that the newly restored surfaces look "sleek" and have the "shine of a brand-new tub."
- Commitment to Customer Support: The company is dedicated to addressing client concerns and prides itself on the integrity of its work. They emphasize that open communication and adherence to provided Care instructions are essential to ensuring the long life and beauty of the refinished surfaces.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I hade my steel 1980's tub refinished by this contractor in January of 2019. Within a couple of years I started to get large paint bubbles that would crack and peal off. This problem has continued to the present (March 2023). I have spent 4 years chasing paint bubbles, scraping off the loose paint, wet sanding the area and brushing on epoxy paint. The tub refinishing cost me $700. A waste of money.
March 06 · markThe gentleman that runs this company takes tremendous pride in his work, and if anybody has any complaints, I am positive. He would address and correct the issue. The gentleman complaining about paint bubbles from 2019 should’ve mentioned it in 2019 instead of posting a negative reviewIf you didn’t follow the provided Care instructions, it may have been the fault of the home owner. If it was brought to the attention of the business owner, the negative review guy would’ve had five years of problem free bathing in his tub 🤦♂️
June 24 · DJH3 MediaIf you need your tub resurfaced or outdated wall tiles reglazed to look brand new without having to rip apart your existing bathroom then this is the company you want to use. I renovate properties and I use him on a consistent basis. He is reliable, reasonably priced and by the time he is finished your bathroom looks top notch. Rich is friendly and professional. He is respectful of your property and puts down drop clothes to protect your floors. He cleans up when he is done so you never even knew he was there. I highly recommend him to anyone who is looking to do tub resurfacing.
January 23 · Terasia Provost-DaarThey came out and did an amazing job filling holes from towel racks etc and then reglazed my bath, changing the color of my tub and tiles. I was so pleased I had them come out and do another bathroom. They were professional and did a great job. They are wonderful to work with and the price was very reasonable. It is like having a new bathroom for a fraction of the price! I highly recommend them.
January 20 · EricaWould not recommend. Lazy and expensive in the long run. Did not want to come and price a job saying that he had done it a million times and he knew what to do. Once he came out to my parents house, surprise surprise...it was not what he expected. Trying to figure out how to still do the job he made a mess of things. Sloppy and unreliable...this is what happens when you use a franchise you never know who you are gonna get. If you are about your bathroom, tub and things in it DO NOT get this guy ... I am telling you! You will pay far more than you think you do. BUYERS BEWARE.
