A-1 Reglazing Co Introduce
For homeowners in Rhode Island looking to update a dated, worn, or colored bathroom without the high cost and extensive demolition of a full remodel, A-1 Reglazing Co offers a specialized and highly effective solution. Located in West Warwick, A-1 Reglazing Co is a dedicated contractor focusing on bathtub and shower refinishing and reglazing. Their services provide a valuable, cost-effective alternative to replacing expensive fixtures and tile work, giving bathrooms a fresh, modern look, often with a complete color change—like turning a vintage pink tub and tile to a crisp white.
The company’s service is rooted in a highly technical process: applying a new, durable finish directly over existing porcelain, fiberglass, or tile surfaces. This method revitalizes the entire space, transforming tubs, showers, and wall tiles into what, from a distance, appears to be a brand-new installation. This is particularly appealing in historic Rhode Island homes where preserving original structures while updating aesthetics is a priority. Their scope also extends beyond reglazing, as they are equipped to handle floor covering projects, including the installation of new tile floors, offering a more complete bathroom refresh.
The initial process with A-1 Reglazing Co is noted for being professional, personable, and timely, with the owner, Ken, often providing prompt verbal estimates and valuable advice on future bathroom renovations. Projects typically involve multiple steps over several days, including prep work like replacing cracked tiles and regrouting, followed by priming and reglazing. This comprehensive preparation is intended to ensure the final product is smooth and durable, and the work is often accompanied by a warranty, offering clients an added layer of security on their investment.
While the company aims for a "like new" result, potential Rhode Island customers should engage in clear, upfront communication regarding expectations for older materials. The company's work is valued for its ability to deliver a significant visual update and cost savings over traditional replacement. They are a focused contractor providing a specialized, high-impact service for refreshing residential bathrooms throughout the state.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Owner Ken came out promptly to give a verbal estimate and even some tips on future bathroom reno, he also included the cost of a new tile floor install in the price. Overall 3 days of labor. We are +1 month since install and no issues, the warranty is a nice touch. Before (pink) & after (white) pics
May 23 · Thomas BuonomanoSummary: Final product was below expectations of what A-1 sold us when giving the estimate. The big issue is the white reglaze/paint is translucent so the original tile color (pink & burgundy) can be seen through it, A-1 denies this issue and said they will not do anything to fix it. A smaller issue is there were many small defects (air bubbles & cracks) that were mostly fixed with rework, which they claimed I was being too picky with.Oct. 6, 2020 – A-1 came out to give an estimate to reglaze bathroom wall tile (original 1952 pink & burgundy) and tub. They were on time, very personable and professional. They said in order to have the end result look like its brand new, we’ll need to replace a few cracked tiles and regrout the shower. everything he said made sense - 5 star rating at this pointNov. 2, 2020 – A-1 came out to replace tiles, regrout and prep for reglazing. They were on time, polite and talked us through what they were doing - 5 star rating at this pointNov. 3, 2020 – A-1 came out to prime wall tile and reglaze. Again, they were on time, polite and talked us through what they were doing. When they finished reglazing they had us look in the bathroom and inspect, but did not want to do thorough inspection as glaze was still wet. Everything looked great from a distance - 5 star rating at this pointNov. 5, 2020 – after letting everything dry and keeping the bathroom door shut for 43 hours after A-1 had left, we were able to use the use the shower (A-1 says you need to wait minimum of 36 hours to let dry). Once in the shower, it was quite obvious that the original colors were showing through, and there we many small air bubbles and cracks, as well as random bumps in the floor of the shower that are very apparent when standing in it. I emailed A-1 informing them of the issues and we scheduled someone to come out on Nov. 16. In their response they were very polite and understanding of our concerns - 5 star rating at this point (things happen, I waited to see how they responded before posting a review)Nov 5-6, 2020 – we hired another contractor for some different work, and asked if they could see the pink and burgundy through the white. At first they said he could not, but after working in the bathroom for a while they said they could in fact see the pink and burgundy through the white.Nov. 16, 2020 – A-1 arrived at the time they said they would. When reviewing the big issue of the pink and burgundy showing through the white they said they couldn’t see anything so they will not do anything to address it. My gf and I had marked off all the blemishes we wanted fixed with painters tape prior to them arriving, Ken made snarky remarks saying that we were being too picky. When I said our expectation was a smooth, like new look that he promised / sold us during the estimate, and the results were sub-par. Ken said it’s a 70yr old house its not going to look new. This would have been ok if he had been upfront about it and said it during the estimate, but not after everything was done and paid for. Ken and another guy spent about 30min filling the air bubbles, cracks and wet sanding down rough spots, all while whispering unprofessional things about me to each other thinking I wouldn’t be able to hear them. The rework looks better than before, however is still below what we were expecting from the estimate, and can see the original color through the white – 1 star to date, will update if anything changesIn total we were changed $1,730 for A-1 servicesRecommendations to A-1 Reglazing:- don’t tell customer your service will make reglazed surfaces look brand new if you aren’t able to deliver- don’t belittle customers opinions and critiques
November 17 · Brian GeorgesonDrips, unpainted sanded areas and a rough overspray finish has caused us to call back this company for correction. We are now waiting on the forth attempt which we were made to wait 3 weeks until they fix it. Office manager Lisa was professional but was directed to talk to Eva one of the owners. I was told I should not expect the finish to be perfect and what I was feeling and seeing would go away over time!!!. I've had this done before and it did not have any of the flaws that these guys feel is acceptable. Look elsewhere for quality job this company is not capable
December 07 · GREGG BARNEYWe reached out to A1 to have our 30 year old bathroom reglazed....the original was white and yellow! What a fantastic job!!! The tiles on the wall, the bathtub and all the accessories look brand new! Thank you for the beautiful and professional work! I would recommend you all to ANYONE!!!
April 05 · LoriAnn CollinsTyson & Company are super helpful! In addition to repairing a little mishap with the glaze of my tub, they are very graciously fixing damage from a toy from one of my kids! This will be the third time I've used their services and I really appreciate A1 tub reglazing
